Study 3: Accommodating an expanding team

As a result of significant and dynamic business growth, one of our major clients asked us to assist with the refurbishment of a new floor which they had leased in their existing building. Due to pressure on the client to maintain revenue targets and to bring new teams on line as quickly as possible we were working on very tight time schedules.
A team approach
Having established the clients’ requirements we collaborated closely with a number of departments, including facilities and IT, to ensure that the infrastructure and building services met the corporate design criteria and the local users specifications. Where possible we utilised existing office layouts to maximise cost efficiency, developing new customer presentation areas, meeting room suites and staff break out areas to enhance the space and provide a more dynamic and exciting environment.
A practical working space
All of the meeting rooms and furniture were designed to be as multi-functional and easy to reconfigure as possible. Meeting tables can be folded and wheeled away and various layout options were evolved to make reconfiguration as simple as possible. The finished floor has been warmly received, in particular the client presentation area. With a mixture of standard and bespoke furniture and innovative design features, such as neon lit signs, the client is able to reflect its high tech product image within a selling environment to match.
As part of the FMS onsite support we continue to provide reception staff who meet and greet visitors and deal with the regular day to day requirements such as taxis, couriers and post. In addition, we employed a facilities assistant who provides maintenance and facilities support with instant response and assistance during busy periods, helping with activities such as meeting room configuration and minor repairs.
